Welcome to my summer project, a journey fueled by curiosity and a passion for the natural world. As friends from university, I encouraged a group of us to embark on a mission to document and explore the wonders of our surroundings throughout the season. From the vibrant meadows to the dense forests and tranquil waters, each encounter became a cherished moment of discovery and learning.

4. Nerodia sipedon ssp. sipedon

On the banks of a tranquil creek, we observed the graceful movements of the Nerodia sipedon ssp. sipedon, commonly known as the Northern Water Snake. Its sleek, patterned scales shimmered under the dappled sunlight as it navigated the waters with ease. The journal entry captures its sinuous form and distinctive markings, illustrating its adaptation to aquatic life. We marveled at its role in the ecosystem, pondering its diet and interactions with other wildlife. Our encounter with this serpentine species sparked discussions on reptilian diversity and conservation efforts.

Each illustration in our field journal represents a unique encounter, capturing the essence of our summer exploration and fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
